Stephanie L. Mullins DDS, MS
Dr. Mullins is a native of the area and graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1994. She received her predoctoral training in Cell and Molecular Biology at Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. She subsequently went on the graduate from UMKC School of Dentistry in 2002. She was in private practice in the area as a General dentist for a few years before returning to UMKC as an academic fellow. It was there she decided to pursue her specialty certificate in Periodontics and a Masters in Oral Biology again at UMKC. During her periodontics residency Dr. Mullins had extensive training in the area of implants, bone regeneration and grafting techniques.
Dr. Mullins was a clinical assistant professor in the department of periodontics where she received teaching awards both locally as well as nationally. In 2006 she received the American Academy of Periodontics Educator Award, only two of these awards are given nationally every year. Dr. Mullins continued to pursue and academic career until 2009 where she decided upon a dual specialist certificate in Endodontics. She wanted to be able offer patients a variety of services whether the wanted to save their natural teeth or opt for implants and help guide them in an unbiased informed decision. During her Endodontic residency, Dr. Mullins became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. In June 2011, Dr. Mullins became the first dual trained Endodontist, Periodontist in the state of Missouri and is one of only a handful across the country.
She is a professional member of various local and national dental organizations which include the American Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists, American Academy of Periodontology, College of Diplomates, American Board of Periodontists, Missouri Dental Association and the Greater Kansas City Dental Society.
Dr. Mullins currently lives in Lee's Summit with her husband, Derek, their three sons McCallister, Bennett and Drury, and their chocolate lab, Elli.
Julie - Office Manager
Julie has been working in the dental field for the past four years, both in periodontics and oral surgery. She graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in southern Minnesota with a degree in Elementary Education and English. Prior to working in the dental field, she was a middle school English teacher.
Julie was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota and loves going to visit whenever she can. She and her husband, Guthrie, recently moved to Overland Park after spending the past few years in Columbus, Ohio. So far, they are truly enjoying Kansas City and everything it has to offer!
In her free time, she loves sewing, scrapbooking, and baking. A few times a year, she works as a vendor at local art and craft fairs. She also loves reading, spending relaxing weekends at her family's cabin on Balsam Lake in Wisconsin, and taking walks with her Yorkshire Terrier, Wally.
Sarah - Dental Assistant
Sarah began her dental career in general dentistry in 2007. She passed her Missouri Basic Skills test and obtained her Expanded Functions Certifications in 2008.
Sarah was raised in the Independence area. During high school her family moved to southeast, central Missouri where she spent the next 10 years between there and southern Oregon. She returned to Kansas City, the place she has always called home, 5 years ago. Her time spent in southern Oregon gave her a love for arts and crafts and the scenic outdoors. Kauffman stadium, the crossroads district, city and farmers markets are some of her favorite summer spots. She enjoys checking out new places, live music and hanging out with friends. She is very close with her family and spends as much time with them as possible.
Carissa - Dental Assistant
Carissa has lived in the Kansas City area all her life. She graduated from BBS in 2006. After graduating, she spent 10 months in a biblical internship in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Upon returning home, she enrolled in MCCKC and graduated with an Associates degree in business. In 2012 she began her exciting career in dentistry at the office of Dr. Stephanie Mullins, where she is gaining new knowledge every day. She is looking forward to her future in dentistry!
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her friends and family and serving at her local church. She also enjoys watching sports, going to the lake, listening to live music, and baking.
